Mansory restoration

Part of the masonry had to be dismantled and rebuilt. Each facing stone was numbered before the facades were dismantled, to be replaced in its original position when the walls were reassembled. This operation was carried out to preserve the original construction of the museum.

In addition to the scaffolding used by our team of masons for their work, we designed and erected a second scaffold to store the stones. This avoided having to lower the stone for storage during the work and then bring it back up when it came time to rebuild. By keeping the stone close by, and with the numbering system in place, we reduced the number of handling steps and saved a lot of time.

Most of the existing stones were preserved while damaged ones were replaced. Our team ensured that each intact stone was repositioned exactly where it had been before, taking all necessary precautions. The replacement stones were made of granite, selected to ensure perfect harmony with the whole.

Our team employed a range of specialized techniques to repair and restore the stones. Cracks were filled with restoration mortars, while Dutchman repairs addressed more significantly damaged stones.
