The Pooley’s Bridge restoration project made its mark on the national stage by winning an Award of Merit in the Conservation Engineering category at the 2026 Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP) awards.
This CAHP award consecrates absolute excellence in heritage conservation and highlights cutting-edge mastery of applied engineering. A remarkable recognition of the craftsmanship demonstrated on this project.
Built in 1872, Pooley’s Bridge is Ottawa’s oldest bridge. The rehabilitation work required intervention in a complex environment over an active aqueduct to counter significant structural deterioration while meeting strict modern infrastructure standards.
The project combines traditional conservation techniques and advanced engineering. Notably, we integrated an invisible, concealed Cintec anchoring system and sourced local natural stone from Ducharme Quarries.
The result: a revitalized bridge that preserves the visual integrity of its heritage features while setting a new benchmark for sustainable rehabilitation in Canada.
A massive thank you to our incredible partners, engineers, craftspeople, and the City of Ottawa for their dedication to safeguarding our built heritage:
