The Association des entrepreneurs en maçonnerie du Québec (AEMQ) celebrated excellence in masonry at the Murus Awards, a prestigious event showcasing the expertise and craftsmanship in the field. This year, Atwill-Morin once again stood out, winning top honors in the Restoration/Renovation – Built Heritage category for its exceptional work on the Gouin Wall in Ahuntsic.
This heritage project focused on restoring masonry walls dating back to the 1930s, ensuring their stability ahead of the upcoming redevelopment of boulevard Gouin Ouest. With a new sidewalk set to be built just 0.5 meters from the walls, it was essential to reinforce them to guarantee pedestrian safety. The restoration included the construction of a hidden concrete foundation, designed to prevent structural collapse and extend the walls’ lifespan while preserving their historical integrity.
Congratulations to Muriel Bassil and François Lévesque (Project Managers), Amar Baguenane (Estimator), Dave De la Roche (Foreman), and all the teams involved in this remarkable achievement. Their dedication and expertise continue to uphold the highest standards in masonry and heritage preservation.
A huge thank you to the AEMQ for this recognition, and well done to all the teams!
