Building Envelope Restoration and Replacement of 100% of the Masonry
Stones Identification, Reproduction and Replacement
Each of the 3,500 stones of the facades were measured meticulously, to be replicated to perfection. They have all been numbered and transcribed on our elaborate installation plan! The masons at the site were able to follow the plans to rebuild the cathedral.
Restoration of concrete cornices (cappings) and ceramic mosaics
To reproduce the architectural components and thus preserve the rich heritage of this monument, our team restored the concrete crownings and cornices. The ceramic mosaics were inspected and several tiles were replaced.
Tinsmith work: gutters and roofing replacement
The copper sheets at the base of the crowning of the dome, as well as the gutters, were replaced by our team.
Restoration of doors, windows and stained glass
All windows, storm windows, doors, frames and stained glass were removed, cleaned, restored, painted and reinstalled. The sealed units were also replaced with new insulated glazing. The caulking and putty on the original windows were replaced.

A challenge worthy of Atwill-Morin!
Let us underline the magnitude of the task! Each of the 3,500 stones of the façades was measured by hand in advance, because we had to send the measurements to start manufacturing! All the stones were numbered, and then transcribed on our installation plan. We had to be very precise!
