Scaffolding for Masonry Repairs
System scaffolding is ideal for custom configurations. The lack of bracing makes it a good solution for masonry work involving heavy stones because there’s lots of space to move materials.
The scaffold design team worked with the masons to design a structure to access the turrets on the roof. Scaffolding on the ground provided structural support for walkways to the turrets and the interior courtyard.
The turrets were stabilized by dismantling sections of stone to access the underlying steel structure. Our masons removed the masonry to treat the steel columns and beams for corrosion and reinforce them. The facade stones underwent various interventions including replacement, resurfacing, veneering, and dutchman repairs for damaged elements. Bricks were replaced where necessary and hand-tinted to ensure visual uniformity throughout.
Work on the Claude-Pratte wing of the Château Frontenac included copper restoration as well as the repair and replacement of cladding stones. Targeted interventions also allowed for the replacement of certain sections of brick veneer. The dormers underwent structural reinforcement to ensure the safety and durability of the building. The restoration was carried out while preserving original materials wherever possible to maintain visual harmony.
